Despite the gearing ratio showing that the company is over in its borrowing but the business still perform well which sales is increasing yearly and have been returning capital to its shareholders by share repurchase scheme as well as dividend to meet long term growth in earning per share. The stability of the firm is guaranteed. And the company current ratio of 1.5:1 is acceptable which menas the company have a positive working capital. Debenhams PLC performs relatively stable based on its profit margin ratio and return on shareholders funds ratio as both ratios are slightly higher compared to the industry and sector average. The company focus in charity, social and environment as well. However, the firm gearing ratio is higher and the current ratio are below 1 which means that the company has a negative working capital and unable to converted it assets to cash within one tear. From the share price analysis, both companys share price increase for the past two year. However, Debenhamss share price has been falling in the recently due to XXXXX. On the other hand, the share trading volume for Next is much higher then Debanhams, this showing there are many trader involved in the stock and it would be easier to find a trader. In this case, we would say that it is liquid. Most importantly, invertors should consider the performance prospects as this will result in dramatic fall in share price if the company not doing well. Therefore for an investor, they should invest on Next PLC as the company provides higher profit margin, earning per share (EPS) and share price is increasing recently.

We will write a custom essay sample on Essay on the Nature of Trade in Generalââ¬â¢ or any similar topic only for you Order Now In other words, price consists of labour and manufacturing costs and should reflect the quality of these two factors. In the excerpt, author makes some accurate assumptions. Firstly, he notices the difference in value of land and labour: ââ¬ËOne Acre of Land produces more Corn or feeds more Sheep than another. The work of one Man is dearer than that of anotherââ¬â¢. I am interpreting land as the quality of materials to produce a commodity and consider only labour included in manufacturing. So the fertility of land (which is equal to the quality of the good, as the more fertile land is, the tastier, nicer and bigger fruits it will produce) and quality of labour should be included in the price. Author uses example with wool suite to illustrate his observations : ââ¬ËIf the Wool of the one Acre is made into a suit of coarse Cloth and the Wool of the other into a suit of fine Cloth, as the latter will require more work and dearer workmanship it will be sometimes ten times dearerââ¬â¢. So the suit of fine cloth will be more expensive than the one from coarse cloth even thought the price of materials used for these suits are the same. It means that price difference of the costumes is determined by the price of labour. Fine cloth suit requires more skilled work and at the same time more expensive work. Skilled workers, with more knowledge are more efficient so their labour costs more. Same relationship between price and quality of materials exist: ââ¬Ëthe price of the Hay in a Field, on the spot, or a Wood which it is proposed to cut down, is fixed by the matter or produce of the Land, according to its goodnessââ¬â¢. Author uses phrases such as ââ¬Ëland fertilityââ¬â¢ and ââ¬Ëquality of the produce of the landââ¬â¢, but for simplicity, letââ¬â¢s assumes that it is the quality of materials used for production or the quality of the good itself it is a raw material. The price of billets is determined by the quality of timber, the price of hay is determined by the quality of the grass cut. In this case the difference between two identical piles of wood or two rolls of hay is determined by the quality of the materials. This given example proves that relationship between the price and quality of the materials do exists. Another accurate observation was made about the surplus and the shortage influence to the price. Author used an example with corns: ââ¬ËIf the Farmers in a State sow more corn than usualâ⬠¦ gt; there are more sellers than buyers the Market Price of the Corn will necessarily fall below the intrinsic price or Valueââ¬â¢. In other words, supply which is larger than demand will create a surplus, the price will decrease and will be below the equilibrium price. Same example with corns was used to illustrate the shortage: ââ¬ËFarmers sow less corn than is needed for consumption there will be more buyers than sellers and the Ma rket Price of corn will rise above its intrinsic value. ââ¬â¢ When demand is larger than supply, a shortage will occur, causing prices to go up. These processes were simply but accurately explained in the text. The author also noticed the governmentââ¬â¢s importance in economics. He explained how prices can be fixed: ââ¬Ëthe Magistrates of the City are able to fix the Market Prices of many things, like bread and meatâ⬠¦ ââ¬â¢. This is simply governmentââ¬â¢s policy of price floor which enables to keep the market prices above equilibrium price to protect the producers. Despite these accurate observations, inconsequence can be found. First of all, author does not consider all factors that influence the price. Costs of labour and materials are part of production costs but there are also price of the machinery needed for production, taxes, transportation costs and many more, according to the business. All these fixed and variable costs must be included in the price of the commodity. Profits were not considered as well but are very important as they can make up most of the price especially of brand name products. Prime cost of a designer handbag is far lower than its market price because it includes huge profits for the designer. So the main idea of the text is correct but there are still some places to be improved. In conclusion, the excerpt from R. Cantillion ââ¬ËEssay on the Nature of Trade in Generalââ¬â¢ includes quite a few accurate examples and observations about economy and more specifically about the relationship between the price and quality of materials and labour (in authorââ¬â¢s terminology: ââ¬ËThe Price and Intrinsic Value of a Thing in general is the measure of the Land and Labour which enter into its Productionââ¬Ë). Essay was written in the beginning of the XVIII century so the examples and terminology of the text are quite archaic. Time of publishing might also be the reason why essay include inconsistencies. Kafkas The Trial Kafka Trials Essay Example For Students
Kafkas The Trial Kafka Trials Essay Kafkas The Trial Kafkas The Trial follows a man, K. , as he is arrested and released for an unknown offense and attends a series of bizarre trials. He tries to comprehend and extricate himself from an outrageous course of events, which transpire suddenly in his life. K. is persecuted by this unimaginable court, which seems to hold a quasi-authoritative place in society. K.s life seems to spiral out of control while he and the reader struggle to understand what is going on. Kafka uses this piece to criticize bureaucracy, even in a seemingly democratic society. Kafka believes that bureaucracy is endangering the freedoms of the individual in modern society and that it is extremely detrimental to society in the long run. It is not readily identifiable what geographical location Kafka is referring to in The Trial. Based on the rest of the novels bizarre twists and turns it seems that Kafka did not want to nail down any concrete location to weight down his surrealist story. While there is no link with any known location (other than perhaps Kafkas hometown of Prague) the surroundings are modern and urban. In The Trial, K spends most of his time in various buildings with very little mention of any identifying characteristics. Kafka seems to center around middle class urbanites for the most part. Kafka tackles the evils of government and bureaucracy, concentrating on the social implications of these man made authorities on the individual. Reification seems to serve a pervasive role in Kafkas The Trial. Reification is when something abstract is given material worth by a society It seems that Kafka is questioning how the legal system has been given so much authority and power making it a material entity. In 1912, when Kafka penned The Trial, the rise of the republic was evident around Europe. There was a renewed emphasis on realism and rationale, which also makes an appearance in The Trial. When published, Kafkas novels evoked the hopelessness of individuals confronting a relentless, machinelike society in which they are minor cogs. As the threat of war swirled in Europe (World War I was just on the horizon), anti Semitism and nationalism surrounded Kafka. In the arts, the rise of modernity created a challenge to positivism that could not be silenced. The author of The Trial, Franz Kafka lead an interesting life which holds some parallels to his protagonist, K. Franz Kafka was born on July 3, 1883 in Prague, Bohemia to a middle class Jewish family. Kafkas father was a strong patriarchal force in his life, however he lived at home until around age 40. Kafka worked as an insurance salesman and wrote in his spare time although he saw it as a curse rather than embracing his talent. He always saw himself as a failure (according to his fathers standards) even though he earned himself a degree in law and would later become one of the most influential writers in the 20th century. It was only because of Kafkas friend that he came to become the one of the best writers of the 20th century. Kafka demanded that all of his manuscripts be destroyed after his death . However, his friend published his works posthumously and was the architect of Kafkas belated place in literary history. During his life, Kafka remained virtually unknown and spent a great deal of his life in sanatoriums for TB. Kafkas protagonist, K., seems to struggle with his emotions and unable to relate well to women throughout The Trial. It seems from what we know about Kafka that he struggled from these very same issues. It seems that Kafka is attacking the very same middle class attitudes and institutions, which his family participates in. Kafka seems to be attempting to reveal the evils of modernization and the rise of institutions throughout society. The Trial takes aim at the absurdities of the legal system, a system that Kafka must have been well acquainted during his legal studies. .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22 , .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22 .postImageUrl , .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22 , .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22:hover , .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22:visited , .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22:active { border:0!important; } .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22:active , .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22 .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u5077326c6c02cc700e070abfb0ab0c22:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Immigration Problem Essay Kafka seems to be extremely concerned about mans survival in the modern world and the loss of rights and freedoms that he will have to endure. The Servants of Twilight Essay Example For Students
The Servants of Twilight Essay I recently read a mystery novel called The Servants of Twilight by Dean R. Koontz. Joey Scavello, a six-year-old boy, is the main focus of the book. His mother, Christine Scavello, owns a gourmet shop in Newport Beach, California. Together, the two live in Costa Mesa, a city near Los Angeles. The Church of Twilight, headed by a supposedly psychic woman named Grace Spivey, is the main force against Joey Scavello. Charlie Harrison is a private detective who helps the Scavello family evade the clutches of the members of The Church of Twilight, who are called The Servants of Twilight. It begins on a sunny afternoon in 1985 in the parking lot of a Costa Mesa mall. Christine Scavello and her son are walking to their car when an old woman appears and begins to shout, He must die! toward Joey, and rants the phrase, Dont you know what he is? Later, they see the same woman outside a window at their house and then she calls them on the phone several times, again saying that Joey must die. It is then that they decide to hire a private investigator. They go to the office of Charlie Harrison and he immediately gives them two bodyguards and a man to keep watch on their house. A while after they get home, two men come with guns, invade the house, and kill the bodyguards. Joey and Christine manage to escape, but know they must go to another city to be safe. After much research, they find that the people following them are from The Church of Twilight, lead by the old woman who confronted them at the mall, Grace Spivey. Eventually, they travel with Charlie all the way from Los Angeles to the mountains of Sacramento, trying to get rid of the Twilighters. However, every time they stop in a city to rest, the Twilighters show up, again attempting to kill Joey. Grace Spivey uses her psychic powers to locate the boy. She believes that six-year old Joey is the antichrist and the son of the devil. She thinks he will rule the world for a thousand years if she does not kill him. The group ends up at Charlies cabin in the mountains near Sacramento and they believe they are safe from the ten members of the church following them. However, they are wrong, as Spivey and her followers show up for the final confrontation. It is snowing very heavily, but eventually, Christine and Charlie are able to kill all of the ten people following them, except one. Grace Spiveys closest follower, Kyle Barlowe, turns around to be on their side. Joey, Christine, and Charlie are all safe after their week- long trek to escape the demented Grace Spivey and her Twilighters. I related to Charlie the most because I agreed with his opinions and feelings, which were expressed very deeply in the book. He did not take any pleasure in killing the members of the Church of Twilight who were following the group, but did it strictly in defense of Joey and Christine, who he both came to love. I think it is wrong to kill someone out of anything but self-defense and it is even worse to take pride or pleasure in it. Also, he turned his life around after being brought up by abusive parents, and I believe it is very triumphant for someone to turn around and help others after such a horrible past. I would rate this novel as an eight and one-half because it was very suspenseful and had an intriguing plot. Although I do not think it is the best work of Dean Koontz, he clearly uses his rich writing skills and vivid imagination in this book. I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys mystery novels which involve the supernatural.

Ideal Healt and Insurence System essays
Ideal Healt and Insurence System essays The development of liberal thought began in the seventeen-century England. Often, constitutional monarchy is perceived as a beginning of liberalism. Growth of commercial middle classes and wealth accumulation and consumption, leaded to a new, individualistic morality. The individual is a basic unit of the liberalism ideology. Supreme goals of a liberal political system are preservation of the individual and attainment of individual happiness. That includes the preservation of the individual properties, that is individual life, liberty and estate, and the task of the government was to help the individual in doing so. Individual is to be regarded as inviolable and human life as a sacrosanct, so the violence is prohibited except in preservation of liberal society. This ideology respects all persons as moral beings with equal sensitivity (but at the same time it doesnt take women in account.). Individual is assumed to be essentially rational, so it could be considered the prime source of value, which determines justification of participatory rather than authoritarian government. Liberalism diminishes importance of social whole, which is considered not to have any rights against individuals. This outlook can be called atomistic. Liberal theorists are unwilling to invoke concepts such as the common good and public interests. The only common good they want recognize is the maximization of the aggregate of individual benefits. On the economic side 18th- and 19th-century liberalism based itself on the sovereignty of the market and the "natural harmony of interests." On this view, if individuals are left free to pursue their self-interest in an exchange economy based upon a division of labour, the welfare of the group as a whole will necessarily be enhanced. Classical liberal economists describe a self-adjusting market mechanism free from all teleological influences. While moral goals are invoked and ethical criteria presu...

Learning About Starfish
Learning About Starfish Starfish are fascinating creatures. With theirà bumpy, five-armed bodies, its easy to see how they got theirà name, but did you know that starfish arent really fish at all? Scientists dont call these ocean-dwellingà creatures starfish. They call them sea stars because they arent fish. They dont have gills, scales, or backbones like fish do. Instead, starfish are invertebrateà marine organisms tbhatà are part of the family known asà echinoderms. One feature that all echinoderms have in common is that their body parts are arranged symmetrically around a center point. For starfish, those bodyà parts are their arms. Each arm has suckers that help starfish, who dont swim, move along and capture prey. Most of the 2,000 species of starfish have the five arms that inspired their name, but some have as many as 40 arms! Starfish can regrow an arm if they lose one. Thats because their vital organs are located in their arms. In fact, as long as an arm has part of the starfishs central disc, it can regenerate an entire starfish. At the end of each of a starfishs five to forty arms isà an eye that helps them locate food. Starfish eat things like clams, snails, and small fish. Their stomachs are located on the underside of their central body part. Did you know that a starfishs stomach can come out of its body to envelop its prey? Another striking fact about starfish is that they dont have brains or blood! Instead of blood, they have a water vascular system that helps them breathe, move, and expel waste. Instead of a brain, they have a complex system of light - and temperature-sensitive nerves. Starfishà live only in saltwater habitats but are found in all Earths oceans. They vary in sized based on the species but are usually between 4 and 11 inches in diameter and can weigh up to 11 pounds. The lifespan of a starfish also varies by species, but many live up to 35 years. They can be found in a variety of colors such as brown, red, purple, yellow, or pink. If you are fortunate enough to find a starfish in aà tide pool or the ocean, you can safely pick ità up. Just be very careful not to harm the starfish and make sure to return it to its home. Learning About Starfish To learn more about sea stars, try some of these excellent books: Starfish by Edith Thacher Hurd is a Lets-Read-and-Find-Out About story about starfishà and how they live in the deep blue sea.
